Newsletter 11 – Autumn Term 2015 – 19th November 2015

Happy Home Learning – FS1
Can you make a gingerbread man puppet and bring it to school? You could use paper, card, fabric or even and old sock!
Foundation Stage 2 Homework
Literacy – This week we have been reading the story of Cinderella. Can you draw a picture of your favourite character and label it by listening to the sounds you hear in words?
Maths – In maths this week we have been matching the written number to a group of objects. Can you practise counting objects around your house (steps, socks, teddies etc.) and tell your grown up how many there are? You could then try writing the number. Remember to form it correctly.
Year 1 Homework
Maths – Please practise forming numbers 1 – 10 using the examples in your home school diary.
Literacy – start to learn ro read the words on the sheet which has been given out today. Do this at speed.
Year 2 Homework
Spellings – quickly, slowly, suddenly, carefully, happily, sadly
Maths – Please practise oral counting in two’s, fives & ten’s. If you can do this, try three’s and four’s. Group objects in two’s, fives, three’s and four’s to count them.
Literacy – Please draw and describe a character from Alice in Wonderland, remember to use adjectives (describing words) and similes e.g. ‘as red as a rose’ in your writing book.
Retirement
After more than 20 years of dedicated service to our school as both a dinner lady and teaching assistant, Mrs Davis will be retiring on Friday 27th November. We would like to express our gratitude for all Mrs Davis has done for the children, families and staff here at Bramley Sunnyside Infant School. I know you will want to join me in wishing Mrs Davis a long, healthy and happy retirement.
Safeguarding
We are always pleased when parents/carers volunteer to help in school to bake, read or help out in the classroom and thank you for the time that you give. All volunteers should sign the visitor book and wear a visitor badge so that in the unlikely event of an emergency we have a record that you are on the premises. Also, children and staff know that anyone wearing a visitor badge has authorisation to be in school.
Matball Festival
Some of the Year 2 children represented our school at the Cluster Group Matball Festival which was held at Bramley Grange School on Monday. The children tried really hard and we are pleased to inform you that we achieved 3rd place.
Morrisons
Morrison’s have launched a prize draw in support of The Sue Ryder charity which provides incredible hospice and neurological care for people facing a frightening, life-changing diagnosis. The draw will be made on Saturday 12th December when the lucky winner will receive a £200 voucher to spend in store. Tickets can be purchased at the Bramley store for £2.00 each.
