Newsletter 11 – Spring Term 26th March
Homework – Whole School
After the Easter Holidays the children will be taking part in a sponsored spell. Each child will be bringing home a sponsor form with the ‘danger’ words which we would like them to get busy learning during the Easter Holidays. Foundation Stage 1 will also be taking part so please make sure you receive a sheet with your newsletter.
Printed Word Documents
As a school we want to promote ‘Printed Word Documents’ such as leaflets, brochures and posters. Therefore, during the holidays we would like you to look for and collect any printed word documents which relate to your child’s topic and bring them into school at the beginning of the summer term. Topics for each year group are as follows:-
Foundation 1 & 2 – Bare Necessities
Year 1 – World Travel
Year 2 – Go Wild!
Authority Approved Free School Meals
As you may be aware, the school receives an additional payment into the school budget from the government Pupil Premium Fund for every child who qualifies for a ‘Benefit Related’ free school meal award. This funding has a direct impact on the support and educational experiences we can provide. Previously this award has only been available to children who are in Foundation Stage 2 upwards. However, the guidelines have changed and parents of children in Foundation Stage 1 can now apply for a ‘Benefit Related’ free school meal award. Once your claim is awarded the school is notified and your child will then be eligible to access a wide range of activities free of charge or at a substantially reduced rate (i.e. after school clubs, extended services holiday clubs, school visits etc). If you think you are eligible, due to being on a low income or if you qualify for certain benefits (outlined below), you should make a claim with Rotherham Borough Council or by collecting a form from the school office. We would be more than willing to offer you a private appointment to complete the form with you.
Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Related Employment and Support Allowance, Child Tax Credit and a gross annual income that does not exceed £16,190 (but not if you claim Working Tax Credits) or Pension Credits.
Easter Bonnet Parade
Please remember that we will be holding an Easter Bonnet Parade tomorrow for all the children. The children will have the chance to parade around, looking spectacular and there will be a prize for the best Bonnet in each class.

FABSS Easter Eggstravaganza
Fabss would like to thank everyone who helped with the Easter Eggstavaganza. The total raised will be announced in due cause and the raffle prize winners can be viewed on the website www.fabss.org.uk.
Class of the week 16th to 13th March
Congratulations to the children in Class 5 who attained a level of 98.7%. We are very proud of you.
Class of the Term
The class with the highest level of attendance for the Spring Term is Class 5, who achieved a level of 96.7%. Currently in the lead for ‘Class of the Year’ is Class 8 with a level of 96.9%.
Head lice
There have been cases of head lice reported in school. Please take the opportunity to check your child’s hair during the holidays and treat where necessary. Your local pharmacy can advise on treatments for many childhood ailments including head lice, coughs, colds & other minor illnesses. A list of pharmacies that offer this service can be found at www.rotherhamccg.nhs.uk.
Water Bottles
In the interests of hygiene, please take your child’s water bottle home during the holidays for cleaning. May we remind parents that only water is allowed in bottles and ask that you refrain from bringing juice. Thank you
Spare Clothes
Accidents sometimes happen and we are running low of spare underwear, particularly for our Foundation Stage Children. If anyone would like to donate any spare pairs for girls and boys, it would be much appreciated. Thank you
St Francis’ Church – Messy Church
Messy Church will take place on Good Friday 11pm to 1pm. Food, drinks games and fellowship are included. All welcome.
