Proposed Industrial Action

By October 6, 2014School News

Dear Parents/Carers

Proposed Industrial Action

As you may already be aware from the media, it is planned for members of three of the biggest trade unions, GMB, Unite and Unison to take industrial action on Tuesday 14th October 2014.

The action, a one day strike, will result in whole school closures across the country.

The decision to close the school is never taken lightly, but when staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, we have no choice but to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all pupils.

We are aware that school closures inconvenience parents and carers and so I am writing to give you advance notice of the impact of the proposed action on our school.

If the planned action goes ahead, the following arrangements will be in place:

The school, or some classes may be closed to pupils on Tuesday 14th October 2014 for the whole day – this will be confirmed as soon as possible

The whole school will re-open as usual on Wednesday 15th October 2014

Should the strike be cancelled then the school will open as usual – please keep listening to the national news and if we hear of any change we will notify you as soon as possible via further correspondence or text message.

Thank you for your patience and understanding and my apologies for any inconvenience the closure may cause.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Smith
