Foundation Stage 1 Happy Home Learning
This week the children have been practising dressing and undressing themselves while changing for our nativity. We would like you this week to give a little more time every morning and evening, encouraging your child to dress and undress themselves. The children will be learning a valuable life skill! Give praise to your child with each little part they manage.
Foundation 2 Homework
Literacy – This week we have sung many songs and practised our Christmas play, talked about the Nativity Story and read Christmas story books. You could talk to your children about the Christmas story. Can they retell the story to you? We have also been practising segmenting and blending with the phonic sounds that we already know and practising reading and writing VC and CVC words. How many 2 or 3 letter words can they write?
Numeracy – Can your child write the numbers from 0 – 10 and then if they know these continue to 20?
Year 1 Homework
Literacy – We have been reading different versions of the Christmas story. See if you can make a story map with labels of the main event.
Numeracy – This week we have been looking at doubling numbers. See if you can find the double of the following numbers, don’t forget to use props to help you count.
5,8,9,12,14
Spellings – Have a go at learning to spell the days of the week. Discuss what order they come in and how the ending of each day is the same.
Year 2 Homework
Topic – Can you investigate changing materials? You could try freezing, melting, dissolving, heating or cooling activity. What changes happen?
Maths – Can you make some number sequences? Try 2’s, 5’s & 10’s or challenge yourself to 3’s and 4’s.
