Whole School Homework
Please encourage your child to read their reading books or find some Christmas stories to read and talk about together. All newsletters from the current term can be accessed on the website www.bramleysunnysideinfant.co.uk giving you the opportunity to recap on any of the previously set homework. Maybe your child still struggles with a tricky word or needs to practice their multiplication or punctuation! Alternatively, you could access the Espresso site via the link on the school website or go to home.espresso.co.uk using the log in information which was sent to you earlier this month.
NON UNIFORM DAY
In response to the many enquiries we have had from parents asking if children can wear Christmas jumpers in school tomorrow we would like to advise you that all children would be welcome to come in a Christmas jumper or non uniform clothes for the last day of term.
Nativity Performances
Thank you to everyone who attended our Nativity Performances. I’m sure you would agree that the children were fabulous! A copy of the E safety information that was given to you at the performances is attached to this newsletter.

Visit to Church
Thank you everyone who joined us for our Christmas Celebration at St Francis’ Church. As part of the celebration the children enjoyed watching a short video clip of the nativity story. This can be found at the following website address should they want to watch it at home. www.biblesociety.org.uk/wellgood. Reverend Ward has said all our families will be welcome to join any of the services at church over this Christmas period. They are as follows:- Sunday 18th December – Carol Service – 4pm Christmas Eve – Christingle Service – 5pm (Great fun for all the family) Christmas Eve Communion – 11pm (Traditional Holy Communion Service) Christmas Morning – Family Service – 10am (A short 50 minute service of praise and fun for all)
Year 2 Visit to The Deep
A visit to The Deep has been arranged for the children in Year 2 which will take place on Thursday 19th January. The cost of the visit will be £17.50 and a letter with further details will be sent out when we return after the Christmas Holidays.

I would like to say a big ‘Thank you’ on behalf of all the staff for the many lovely Christmas cards, gifts and warm wishes we have received. May we take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. We look forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday January 3rd 2017 when learning begins again in earnest. Please look out for dates of Stay and Learn sessions which will focus on reading, giving parents lots of ideas on how they can support their child to make maximum progress in reading. There will also be opportunities for you to join in activities with your child and view examples of statutory tests that children in Year 1 and Year 2 will take later in the year.

School meals – Summary of feedback from the Parent Taster session
A very big thank you to the 120 parents that attended the school meal taster sessions and to those of you who completed the questionnaires.
Our findings from these are as follows :-
13/50 children choose a variety of options from the menu. This was largely due to children preferring green choice which is served quicker and allows longer to play outside.
44/50 parents knew that meals were cooked freshly on the premises and are carefully planned to ensure a balance of nutrients.
45/50 parents think there is a good variety of food on the menu.
49/50 parents said that they found the taster session helpful.
Answers to questions/issues raised are as follows :-
Although it does take longer for some children to eat their meal, particularly red and yellow choices, they are supervised in the dining hall until 1:00pm when the afternoon teaching session begins.
Despite some children choosing a limited variety of meals, all staff do encourage children to try new things and remind them that they need to taste food several times before they can decide whether they like it or not. The kitchen also provides occasional food taster pots during lunch time for children to try.
We will continue to include menus on the school website so that choices can be discussed at home. We will also organise another school meals taster session later in the school year when the menu is issued.
