Newsletter 2 – Autumn Term 2015
Whole School Homework
You should all have received a topic letter outlining the subject your child will be learning about during the coming term and we would like you to spend time with your child sharing this information. Maybe you could research the topic together on the internet or read an information book with pictures and relevant facts. We would then like each child to write about what they are looking forward to most. If writing is tricky, a picture would be lovely and maybe you could help them to label it.
Foundation Unit – Polite Notice to All Families
We would remind all our families that adults and children are to remain on the Foundation Stage Playground and not access the grassed area or any learning equipment during collection and drop off times.
We are developing our outdoor area and have recently added a lot of new plants which need time to grow and flourish; the children also spend time preparing resources for their daily learning activities which at times is being spoilt by others. Thank you for your understanding and assistance.
Be Prepared
We thank you for ensuring that your children arrive at school, on time looking smart in their uniforms. However, we have noticed that some children have not been prepared for reading and PE lessons. PE kits and book bags should be brought to school every day to avoid lessons being missed. Also, due to health and safety regulations, earrings are not permitted during PE lessons. They cannot be covered with plasters and must not be removed by a member of staff. Therefore, if your child cannot remove their own earrings, they should not wear them on PE days. Thank you
Woodland Kitchens
We have two ‘Woodland Kitchens’ in school where the children can enjoy ‘messy play’ making mud pies, and compost puddings. Yum!! To help enhance this exciting outdoor play experience we need extra utensils for the children to use. Therefore, if you have any old saucepans, frying pans or utensils of any kind hiding in your kitchen cupboards please bring them to school, where the children will make good use of them.
Lunch Time Provision
Mrs Pemberton, our school cook, prepares delicious meals and sandwiches each day for the children to enjoy. There are two hot meal options and various sandwich choices each day, all of which are provided free of charge for infant children. She has advised us that it is not an option to prepare sandwiches with fillings other than those stated on the menu. Also, children should stick to either school meals or packed lunches from home on a weekly basis so that the cook can prepare for the coming week.
Health & Safety
At the beginning of the school year we would remind you that children must dismount scooters before entering the school premises and should not ride around the playground before or after school.
