Newsletter 7 Autumn Term – 16th October 2017

Happy Home Learning
This week we have been reading the story of ‘We’re going on a bear hunt!’ and we have really enjoyed the story. Which stories do you enjoy at home? Please read with your child and record their love of reading in their home/school reading diary. We are now on week 3 of our Rhyme Challenge! Our 3rd rhyme is ‘5 Little Ducks’, please enjoy singing the rhyme together at home.
Foundation Stage 2
This week in literacy we have learnt two new ‘dangerous words’ I and the. Can you practise writing these words in your book? Remember to tell your grown up that you ‘Can’t Fred a Red!’
In maths we have looked at the language of more and less. We have been identifying which group of objects have more or less. Can you draw 2 caves in your homework book? In one cave we would like you to draw 4 bears. In the other cave we would like you to draw less than 5 bears.
Year 1
Please read your reading book. Can you find any words with the phoneme ‘ee’?
Spellings of the week – see, tree, week, meet, green, they, are, liked, we, saw.
You could go on an autumn walk and write some sentences about this using our spellings of the week.
Maths -This week we have been finding what 5 is made of. Use five objects to find out? You can draw or write the ways e.g. 1 + 4 = 5, 4 + 1 = 5, 5 is the same as 4 and 1, 5 is the same as 1 and 4.
Topic – In art we have learned about the artist Andy Goldsworthy. You could make a picture just like Andy Goldsworthy does using the things you collect on your Autumn walk.
Year 2
Maths – Practise number bonds to 10 and 20 so that you can recall them without using your fingers. Use Top marks if you find this helpful.
Topic – We are learning about different materials and classifying them next week. We would like you to bring to school 3 items from your recycling bin made from different material.
Spelling – gnome, gnat, gnaw, write, wrist
