Happy Home Learning Homework– Foundation Stage 1
Whilst you are all busy writing your Christmas cards, please encourage your child to write their own
name and remember to use their ‘Fred Frog Legs’ to hold their pencil. Our post box will be out in the
classroom from Monday morning, and class lists will be on the welcome table
Foundation Stage 2 Homework
This week we would like you to focus on the importance of internet safety with your child. Please
watch the short clip on our website www.bramleysunnysideinfant.co.uk and discuss this with your child
(this can be found on the parents section of our website, in the safeguarding folder). The children
recently had an assembly about e-safety so should already be able to talk to you about ways to keep
safe online. This is in preparation for upcoming homework which will involve using some really useful
websites to support learning.
Year 1 Homework
Literacy – Please read your reading book. Can you explain what you have read about on each page?
Spellings of the week: do, you, will, be, have, call, are, how, what
Maths
Think of a number then use some objects to make your number. Can you add 2 more? How many
altogether? Can you tell the story in different ways? E.g 5 and 2 more is 7 , 5 add 2 = 7 , 5 + 2 = 7,
Two more than 5 is 7, 7 is the same as 5 and 2 more.
Year 2 Homework
Spellings – luckier, luckiest, happier, happiest, fluffier, fluffiest
Maths – Please practise counting. Can you count in twos from 12, fives from 25 and tens from 31?
Repeat this process starting from different numbers.
Literacy – We would like you to find a book telling the Christmas story to read. Can you compare it
with “The Donkey’s First Christmas” which we have read in school?
Class of the Week – 20th to 24th November
Class 9 have achieved an attendance level of 98.7% and are this week’s ‘Class of the Week’.
School Grounds
You will have noticed how beautiful the school grounds are looking at the moment. I am sure you will
agree that Morthen Garden Services have made a wonderful job of making our grounds look fabulous
during these winter months. The pots have been re-planted with seasonal shrubs from Guilthwaite
Nurseries, the boundaries have been cleared of rubbish and the bench areas have had an overhaul. In
addition to this, the borders around the lawns have been tidied in readiness for the regrowth of our
spring bulbs which were planted during our Family Planting Day in remembrance of Miss Dawson. I
hope that you, like the staff, will take pride in our school grounds and take time to admire the
beautiful surroundings.
