Newsletter 13 – Summer Term 7th July 2016

Happy Home Learning
Ask your child about their transition into their new class. Find out what they’ve been up to and help them to fill in their passports.
Foundation 2 Homework
This week we have been learning about India as part of our multi-cultural week. Can you design your own Indian Sari in your homework book?
Year 1 & Year 2 Homework
We hope you have enjoyed your transition sessions during the last two weeks and are now getting used to your new classrooms. Your new teacher wants to know all about you so we would like you to write some interesting facts about yourself. What is your favourite game? What do you like to eat? Can you ride a bike without stabilizers? Are you going on holiday? Maybe you could draw a picture of yourself.
Attendance Awards
We are very proud of the 20 children who have attained 100% attendance for the school year. Each child will receive a certificate and £5 to spend on a special treat. We are especially thrilled to give a special mention to three of our Year 2 pupils who have achieved 100% attendance for Year 1 and
Year 2. Hallie Feltoe, Ayden Ryder and Maddison Palmer will each receive £10 with their certificate.
As you are aware the schools expected level of attendance is 95.7% and there are 169 children who have achieved this level. They will each receive a skate voucher for Ice Sheffield.
Class of the Year
Wow! What a close race it has been this year and we are thrilled that Unit 2 have achieved the highest overall attendance with a level of 96.5%. The children in Unit 2 will each receive a certificate and a special treat. Class 8 finished in second place with a level of 96.2% and Class 9 in third place with a level of 96%.
Sports Day
Wow, what a fabulous morning we had. There was a real buzz to the morning, even before the races started. We would like to congratulate the ‘Brilliant Blue’ team who were the overall winners of the day but also a huge ‘well done’ to the yellow and red teams, who tried really hard and made every effort to win!
Huge congratulations go to the sprint race winners from each year group, we are very proud of you!
Archie, Harrison, Hollie and Sophie – Year 2
Isaac, Kia, Lucy O. and Lucie D – Year 1
Jack, Sam, Annabella and Lia – Foundation Stage 2
The children always enjoy Sports Day and look forward to seeing their parents/carers who come along to support. Therefore, we would like to say a massive thank you to all those who cheered the children on, your support is very much appreciated.
Multi-Cultural Week
We would remind you that the doors will be open from 2.45pm tomorrow, Friday 8th July and we invite you to come along and view the work that the children have produced during multi-cultural week.
Health & Safety
We would politely remind parents and carers that riding bikes and scooters on the school premises is not allowed. Also, the play equipment in the Foundation Unit is no to be used when dropping off and collecting children from school.
Non-Uniform Day
We are holding a non-uniform day tomorrow to raise funds for the Kenyan Orphanage One by One charity. The children have had a special assembly today and Mrs Shaw has given them lots of information about the orphanage so they will be able to tell you all about it. Any small donations will be gratefully received and should be left in your child’s classroom.
Head Lice
There have been a number of cases of head lice reported within school and we would advise that all parents/carers check their child’s hair. Thank you
