Happy Home Learning

Our nursery rhyme this week is ‘5 lovely lolly pops’. Practice singing this with your child.

FS2 Homework

Literacy – This week we have been doing visual literacy and have watched certain clips from 'The Little Mermaid'. The children have talked about the characters feelings and emotions. Can you draw a picture of one of the characters and write about how these characters feel in the story? Think about writing down the sounds that you can hear in the words. Can your grown up read your sentences?

Numeracy – In numbers this week we have been learning about doubling. Ask your children about the doubling machine. Ask your child to double amounts of items around the home with numbers to 10. Can you record some doubling sums in your homework book?

Year 1 Homework

Literacy – Make a leaflet to advertise the attractions at the seaside. Use persuasive language to make people want to go!

Phonics – Practise the following spellings, said, there, went, was, they, because, are.

Year 2 Homework

Creative – Get creative! Can you create African inspired art? You could paint, sketch, draw, collage or even make a mask.

Numeracy – Can you count multiple coins and record it as a multiplication number sentence?

e.g. 2 x 5p = 10p, 6 x 10p = 60p, 4 x 50p = £2.00.

Phonics – Find words with the prefix re – redo & pre – prehistoric. Write them down in your homework books.

Class of the Week 28th April – 2nd May

Congratulations to Mrs Stothard’s class who are class of the week with a level of 99.3%.

FS1 Closures

On Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th June our new FS1 September starters will be visiting the Foundation Unit for their coffee morning/afternoon sessions. Therefore FS1 will be closed to all current children on both days. FS2 will be open as normal.

PE

Please make sure that your child’s PE kit is in school everyday as we sometimes have to change the allocated slot for each class due to weather conditions and visits etc. Also, now that we are in the summer term we will hopefully be able to take the children outside for lessons so please make sure they have suitable outdoor footwear. Thank you

Kenya Appeal

As you are aware, Mrs Shaw has just returned from Kenya after visiting the Kings Children’s Home where she spent time with the children in their new school. On Friday 23rd May at 2.30pm, we will be holding a special assembly to give Mrs Shaw the opportunity to share her experience with our children and we would like to invite you to come along too. She has lots of pictures to show us and will be giving each class the details of their new Kenyan pen pal, which we are really excited about. The assembly will start at 2.30pm prompt and we would love to see you there.
