Newsletter 4 – Summer Term 18th May 2017
Happy Home Learning
This week we have been learning the rhyme ’10 in a bed. Please practise singing the rhyme at home together. Do you have 10 teddies? Can you make them a number badge? Practise recognising numbers to 10.
Foundation Stage 2
Literacy – This week we would like all children to start to learn the names of the alphabet. Could you sing/teach the ABC song and to follow up, begin to match lower case letters to capitals. Matching lower and upper case letters will take time so we would be grateful if it could be a focus of this week and continued throughout the holidays. Thank you.
Numeracy – We are learning about 2d and 3d shapes. Please help your child to find an object that they can bring to school to show and describe to the class. Question your child as to what the shape is and if they can spot other shapes both inside and outside your home.
Year 1
Reading – Please read your reading books. Can you spot any statements, questions, commands or exclamations?
Spellings – there, they’re, were, we’re, where, your, you’re, what, want, very
Maths – Practise counting in ones to 50, forwards and backwards. If you can do this try up to 100.
Topic – Please can you research a mini beast of your choice and make a fact file.
Year 2
Spellings – Please practise spelling contractions with the apostrophe in the correct place. E.g. can’t wasn’t we’re I’ll I’m I’ve haven’t doesn’t
What other contractions can you think of?
Maths – 30 + 10 = 20 + 20 = 40 + 10 = 30 + 30 = 50 + 20 =
40 – 10 = 20 – 10 = 50 – 10 = 30 – 20 = 60 – 20 = 40 – 20 =
Literacy – Can you think of your own confectionery product? Design your own product (chocolate or sweet). Think of a name for your product and its ingredients. What would the wrapper look like?
Class of the Week 10th-14th April
We are celebrating another fantastic week of attendance. Class 9 have achieved 100% for the second week running and Unit 4, who were almost there last week, have also achieved a level of 100%. Class 5 also had an excellent week and attained a level of 99.3%. We are very proud of all the children who have attended school every day. Well done!
Parent Forum
Thank you to the 3 parents who attended our Parent Forum Meeting this week. We discussed our recent ‘Parent Charter Gold Accreditation Award’ and the issues of parking on Flanderwell Lane & Linden Avenue. The minutes form the meeting will be posted on our website shortly. Questions were also raised regarding transition of children into the next year group. We realise that there may be other parents/carers, who didn’t attend the meeting, who would like more information regarding transition, whether it be to a new class or to the juniors. Please send your questions to school
using our parent forum link on our school website. https://www.bramleysunnysideinfant.co.uk/parents/parent-and-carers-forum/ and we will answer them at our next meeting. Your views and opinions are important to us and we would like to encourage more parents to join in with the discussions at our meetings. Therefore, please let us know which days and times are more convenient for you so that we can arrange our meetings to suit.
