Newsletter 9 – Autumn Term 2015 – 5th November 2015

Happy Home Learning – FS1
We have been talking about Bonfire Night. Talk about the different colours that you see in the sky tonight.
Foundation Stage 2 Homework
Literacy – In literacy this week we have been learning to write describing words. Can you draw a picture of a bonfire you have been to, or a firework you saw and write what sounds they might make? (e.g. Pop, fizz, bang, hiss, zoom).
Maths – In maths this week we have been learning to make repeating patterns. Using objects at home (eg. Pencils) see if you can make a repeating pattern. (e.g. red pencil, blue pencil, red pencil, blue pencil). Can you record one in your homework book?
Year 1 Homework
Literacy – Write a few sentences telling us about what you did on bonfire night.
Maths – Can you find objects around your home in the shape of cube, cuboid, sphere, cylinder & cone and draw them in your homework book?
Year 2 Homework
Spellings – bright, light, night, high, sky, fly, by, my
Literacy – We are learning about rhyme. Can you choose a word and write 3 words that rhyme with it?
Maths – Choose some numbers that you can recognise and write. Sort them into odd and even. Top Tips – Remember even numbers go in pairs, odd ones don’t. Remember for 2 digit numbers you need to look at the number of units.
Book of Remembrance
The Book of Remembrance for Miss Dawson is now available in the hall each day between the hours of 8.30am – 9.30am or 2.45pm – 3.45 pm. Please take time to reflect in the quietness, on your own or with your child as you write your message. Thank you
Class of the Week – 19th – 23rd October 2015
Congratulations to the children in Class 5 who attained an attendance level of 97.5% and are ‘Class of the Week’.
Remembrance Day
As in previous years, we will be joining the local community at the Bramley Memorial on Sunday for the annual Remembrance Day Service. During the service, a wreath will be laid on behalf of our school. If you would like to join us, please arrive at the Memorial for 10.45am. Poppies are still available to purchase at the school office.
Foundation Stage 2
Now that the weather in turning colder, wetter and potentially icy, it is essential that the children keep dry and safe whilst playing outdoors. Therefore, could you please provide a pair of ‘wellie’s’ for your child which can be left at school.
School Photographer
Please remember to inform the office staff if you would like siblings to have their photographs taken together (Infant school children only). All appointments for the family photograph evening have now been taken.
FABSS – Winter Wonderland
FABSS would like to remind you that they are running a Chocolate and Teddy Tombola and a Bottle Lucky Dip at the Winter Wonderland. Donations of chocolate items, unwanted teddies (in good condition) and bottles would be appreciated. If you would like to donate towards these games please bring to school as soon as possible.
If you are donating alcohol it needs to be passed straight to school reception by an adult.
Donated items need to be unopened and within the best before date. Thank you
Baking Room
We thank you for your patience during the previous half term whilst we were undergoing the building work. The baking room is now complete and we look forward to making (and eating) some fabulous buns and cakes as part of our learning.
